A Great Day At Work

Sometimes when I'm very tired in the evening and I go to bed early, I'll wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I end up not being very well rested, which seems unfair, since I went to bed early! Last night I think I turned the light off about 9:15, and while I did wake up in the middle of the night (thanks, Drunken Neighbors!) I didn't stay awake. So I felt pretty good today.

The question of the morning was "Will I finish Monday's comic before I go to work?" And the answer was "Yes, mostly." I struggled with the final panel; was it going too far? Perhaps I'll use the alternate Panel 4 as the Vote Incentive, and see what people think. This "Advance the Story While Finishing Each Comic With A Punchline" format is challenging, but (I hope) is making me a better writer.

So then, I went to work (those who are following along remember that R asked me to fill in today). The good news is that the bookstore is only open from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. The even better news is that sanguinity came by for a Write-In! Unfortunately, the not-good news was the grrlpup felt a bit under the weather, so she stayed home. I'd brought Butterscotch candies so she could have them in a Bookstore for "B" Fortnight (see this if you have no idea what I'm talking about); sanguinity nicely ate some of them so I wouldn't feel it was all for naught.

I spent much of the afternoon working my way through the Internet orders, but J also showed up (to talk to R, but she was happy to see me) and we chatted a bit. And about the time I finished packing books for shipping, sanguinity was done with her novel synopsis, so we talked about all sorts of things until it was time to close up shop. I didn't get much writing done, but did decide I should just block out two hours a day for my novel, so I don't wander off and forget about it.

For a day at work, it was about as good as it gets.
