Whew! That paragraph is how Sock is written; jumpy sentences, telling an odd stream-of-consciousness story, laced with pop reference and song lyrics. It's like having a ADHD friend telling the strangest story they know after downing a dozen Pixie Stix. It wore me out. I'm not saying it's a bad book, I just didn't enjoy the reading of it. Going Postal and Jumping Off The Planet, both well-crafted works of prose, and neither the first novel published by their authors. So Sock had a tough act to follow. Still, I don't think I'd have liked it much in any case, even though it is narrated by a monkey.
