Apparently there were hundreds of submissions last time, and they've already received over 300,000 words of stories for this round. So the competition is terribly fierce. Therefore, I need to write an awesome story (or to increase my chances, three awesome stories). And as Writers know, sitting down to write something awesome is generally self-defeating. It's paralyzing. Ideas might be awesome, finished stories could be, but first drafts rarely are. sanguinity was very sympathetic and reminded me about all this when we discussed it on a walk. She said I should just work on writing stories I'd like. Good advice, indeed.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the book well enough, and I hope to have some stories in a month or so.
