For example, my sister had a baby and my parents have been here for a week. Surely just those events alone could generate several hours worth of conversation. A 300-word blog entry should be as easy as a cake falling off a log. Even mentioning that I've taken the past three Mondays off from BHFT or that I auctioned off copy #1 (of 100) of the Ask Dr. Eldritch Commemorative Stumptown Comics Fest 2008 Booklet should be simple to state. Somehow, though, my attempts have all been unsuccessful.
Part of the problem is feeling overwhelmed by all the things I could blog about. I did consider just picking a single event to record, like when I bought Yak Sausage at the Farmer's Market (Yes, actual Yak (which does taste like Yak, but it turns out that Yak tastes rather like pork, so it isn't the exotic experience one might expect). But I haven't even mentioned that.
How does one choose, though? Should I describe about the book I'm reading ("The Unthinkable," by Amanda Ripley, a fascinating investigation of who survives disasters and why)? Or Current Events? People have undoubtedly been wondering about my thoughts on the recent Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller as a Gun-Owning Liberal, but that's going to take quite a while to formulate a coherent and succinct epistle. Not to mention my ongoing efforts on the creative front, where I'm considering podcasts, comic books, movie scripts, short films and publishing a collection of advice columns, despite wanting to finish my current novel before I start in on all of those. See? Far too much to choose from.
So, I'll let you know when I actually post an update about what's going on. If nothing else, I'll assemble a few Journal Comics on Thursday for 3 On The 3rd, and those will get put up here. See you then!
