Wanted: Publisher, for possible long-term relationship. Must like Trolls.
My Dear LJ Friends! I don't ask you for much, but I'd like your help. During my Tuesday-night visit with the award-winning maryrobinette
, she encouraged me to seek a traditional publisher before going the self-publishing route. I'd hoped to produce a volume of advice-column letters before the holidays, which is impossible if I'm engaged in the cycle of Query/Wait/Rejection-Letter/Repeat. Not that I won't make the effort, but I thought I might try my network of Friends, too.
So, do you have any connections with publishers? Any relatives, colleagues, friends, friends-of-friends, etc.? Even if you don't know of any, are you willing to post about my search in your blog? Something along the lines of: "My friend Evan is seeking a publisher for a collection of his humorous advice-column letters about the extraordinary and supernatural, as seen at AskDrEldritch.com
. He's pretty funny,* so if you, or your friends, or your friends-of-friends have contacts in a suitable publishing house, they can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org."
(*Feel free to elaborate effusively, if you like.)
The query letter I've drafted is here
, and here as a downloadable Word doc
. Any, ideas suggestions, help or contacts you can send my way are greatly appreciated! And if you're the person who makes the link between me and a publisher... let's just say I will be very
grateful. Current Mood: excited/anxious
