Saturday: Packing

Saturday started with working on Comic 154. Then Stonecarrier and R came over, and we set out to find lunch. We didn’t drive far; the Belmont Street Faire was happening, so we parked and walked about. We had shwarma at the Hoda’s booth, and saw D, a friend-of-a-friend who I’ve seen twice in the last ten years, both times at street faires in Southeast. We also checked out the Belmont Firehouse, which is actually a small historical museum of fire equipment. That was fun; I’m glad we stopped there.

Then I went home, and called sanguinity and grrlpup, who came over to help me pack. We put most of the contents of the bookshelves in my living room into boxes, then I decided I’d had enough, and we went to Bangkok Kitchen for Thai food. The place is a bit of a dive, and the server seemed a little put off by having to work on Saturday night (or perhaps from having to wait on people who weren’t promptly ready to order), but the food was hot and tasty, and we didn’t have to cook.

I was thinking how lucky people in Thailand are, because they get to have Thai food ALL THE TIME! But perhaps they get tired of it. I imagine this conversation:

First Thai Person: “I’m hungry, what do we have to eat?”
Another Thai Person: “We’ve got some leftover Thai food in the fridge.”
FTP: “I don’t know. I had Thai food yesterday. And the day before that.”
ATP: “What’s wrong with you? I’ve had it all month.”
FTP: “Do we have any Chinese food?”
ATP: “We could put some water chestnuts in the Thai food.”
FTP: “Yeah, all right.”

Even though I spent a bunch of the time “working,” it was a great day. I got Monday’s comic done, hung out with my older brother, and enjoyed sanguinity and grrlpup’s company while stuff ended up in boxes. Not bad at all...
