"Home" For the Holidays
I'm preparing for this year's Clan Nichols Solstice Gathering. It won't be at the Family Homestead this year, for technical reasons. Instead, holyhippie
and Valkyrie will host, so I'll be in lovely Cameron Park
One of the Major Rituals is the Gift Exchange. We all decided long ago to draw names and only have to shop for one person each season (well, there's no limit for buying for the kids, if one likes). Part of that ritual includes sharing a Wish List with the family. It's ostensibly to give others ideas for what to give, but nobody's obligated to stick to the list. And the Lists have become a way of expressing hopes and desires for the future, so things like "A New Job" or "A Different President" or "A Monkey That Can Drive A Car" often show up.
It's late in the game, but I finally made my Holiday Wish List and sent it out. I can always make a list of "Things What I Want," but what's hard is listing things that someone could actually give
me. At the top of my list, of course, is World Peace. But after that, this year, I'm asking for action figures and accessories!
Knowing my family, I won't be surprised if I get some. Current Mood: relieved
