Gratuitous Displays of Disposable Income
Friday was Dude Night, this time in Lake Oswego. As I was waiting for the other guys to arrive, I was shaking my head at the parade of SUVs streaming into the parking area. Apparently 4-wheel-drive is necessary to traverse across LO, and the bigger the better. Always helps to have a V-8 with positrac when making the treacherous drive from the country club to Zupan's. I liked living in First Addition, it's a great neighborhood, but my little Ford Escort didn't really fit in. I was always afraid I'll be ticketed for driving a car under $30,000.
I must admit that they've fixed up the plaza by the lake right nice, and we walked a bit after leaving the restaurant. The day had been hot, but evolved into a wonderfully warm summer evening. Reminded me how pleasant warm nights can be, when one isn't trying to sleep. Hot weather does have some benefits, I guess…. Current Mood: thoughtful
