I eat my lunch on the third-floor mezzanine, so I can listen to the piano music. Usually the program consists of oldies, like “Moon River” or “As Time Goes By,” but one of the younger pianists has more contemporary tastes. As I was eating today, my brain latched onto the melody. Smoke on the Water. I couldn’t believe it at first, but that’s what it was; arranged for solo piano. If I had a cigarette lighter, I would have stood at the rail and waved it in the air. I don’t know if anyone else noticed.
The drive home was about normal, but after yesterday, the road seemed clear and traffic hardly noticeable. It was great. :-)
